Youngster Richmond Antwi netted a brace on Thursday afternoon to inspire Legon Cities FC to defeat Uncle T United 2-1 as they advanced to the Round 32 stage of the MTN FA Cup.
Nicknamed the Royals, the capital-based club today hosted the Division One League outfit at the Accra Sports Stadium in a Round of 64 tie of the domestic cup competition.
Dominating play right from the start of the match, Coach Bashir Hayford’s team caused a lot of trouble for the visitors.
They however had to wait until the 40th minute before taking the lead. Highly-rated attacker Richmond Antwi equalized with an excellent finished before Uncle T United scored from the penalty spot in the final minutes of the first half to ensure the score stayed 1-1 at the break.
Returning from the break to push, Legon Cities FC had a tough time with the away team defending very well.
In the dying minutes of the game when it looked like it would end in a draw, Richmond Antwi popped up and scored with a brilliant effort to win the match for the Royals.
The win sees Legon Cities FC progressing to the Round 32 stage of this season's MTN FA Cup competition.
