Rio Ferdinand has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo constantly asked about Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at Manchester United.

Henry was approaching the end of his Arsenal career when Ronaldo began to establish himself as one of the best players in the world, but the pair still battled it out for the Golden Boot for a season.

And Ferdinand has revealed Ronaldo used to ask how well Henry did whilst playing for the Gunners, also stating it's a common trait with strikers throughout the world.

I remember Cristiano Ronaldo used to come in and ask about Thierry Henry, he said on BT Sport, as quoted bythe Daily Star.

You knew that stuff was on his mind.

I think that's what they're doing now with him and Messi.

They're definitely doing that and I think every top scorer in every country, in any walk of life, you go down to Sunday League, they want to know about the strikers in the other team.

If there are two strikers in the same team going for the Golden Boot they would be working it out during the game, let alone after the match.

Ronaldo became one of United's most important players during the 2006-07 season, scoring 17 goals in 34 Premier League appearances. Henry managed 10 strikes in just 17 league appearances during the same season and departed afterwards for Barcelona, having won four Golden Boot prizes during his time in north London.

Ronaldo then established himself as the Premier League's top goalscorer, bagging 31 goals in 34 matches in the 2007-08 season andeventually earning a move to Real Madrid where he has continued to score at an astonishing rate.
