Rising Barcelona Star Reveals Hopes of Staying With La Liga Giants for 'Many Years to Come'

Rising Barcelona star Carles Alena has stated his desire to remain with the club for "many years" to come after he made his first-team bow earlier in the season.

The 19-year-old is seen as one of the most oustanding prospects from the next crop of talented Barcelona youth stars, and proved as much when he was handed his first senior appearance for the Catalan giants in November's 1-1 Copa Dey Rey cup draw with Hercules - a debut he marked with his first ever senior goal.

Speaking to Barcelona TV's Hora B programme (via Mundo Deportivo), Alena was about his feelings over making his debut for Barcelona, and the teenager was gushing in his praise of both Luis Enrique and the entire first-team setup at the club.

He said: "Every time I see it (my debut) it gives me goosebumps, it was the best day of my life. After 12 years out here, making my debut and helping the first team secure a draw with a goal is very nice.

"He (Enrique) tells me things to learn. I already how I played but he told me to improve, to keep my feet on the floor. We get on very well. It's always lucky to train with these players and we will try to take advantage of it. We come up with a lot of enthusiasm and desire."

Alena also reserved special praise for superstar Lionel Messi who, as a fellow left-footed player, he hopes to emulate at Barcelona.

He continued: "Everything that you can say about him falls short. He is the best of all tme and when it seems that he can't do anything new, he surprises us again. For me there's no discussion, he's the best in the world."

Alena picked up a hamstring strain during Barcelona's recent winter training camp in Qatar but, after recovering from that setback, took part in the club's first-team training session on Thursday afternoon.

The centre midfielder is currently contracted to Barcelona until the summer of 2018, and with no new contract forthcoming it remains to be seen whether he will be retained by the La Liga giants. Alena, though, is hoping that the club will see fit to hand him fresh terms to extend his stay when he spoke to Spanish news outlet Sport about his future.

He added: "I hope to continue many years at Barcelona."
