Riyad Mahrez Arsenal ambition \'playing into Leicester hands\'

Published on: 25 July 2017

Riyad Mahrez's sole desire to join Arsenal has played into Leicester City's hands, it is being claimed.

The winger has made it clear that he wants to leave the King Power Stadium this summer.

And it has been revealed that he has held long-term ambitions to sign for the Gunners.

However, he risks starting the new season at Leicester with the Gunners focused on signing Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

A King Power stadium source told The Sun: “Mahrez's problem is he has talked about a move to Arsenal for two summers now but on both occasions he has had three years remaining on his contract.

“Therefore he is in no position to dictate the next move or call the shots — all the power lies with the club.

“Leicester's owners do not need the money so unless it's a staggering deal and the kind of offer which would be stupid to turn down, why would they sell for less than £50m in this market?"
