Robert Lewandowski Predicts That Bayern Munich Will Beat Arsenal in the Champions League (Again)

Published on: 13 February 2017

Quiz question: what happened in the Champions League Round of 16 in 2005, 2013 and 2014? The answer, of course, is that Bayern Munich beat Arsenal over two legs to knock them out of Europe.

When fans watching the draw saw that Barcelona had already been matched up with Paris Saint-Germain, only one outcome was possible for the Gunners. Sure enough, the magnetic attraction of Arsenal and Bayern Munich from the hat proved effective again.

Will '2017' be the fourth edition of this tragic saga for Arsenal? According to Bayern's own star striker Robert Lewandowski, the Arsenal calendar is set to continue its familiar course.

I hope we can deliver a good performance and play really well here in Munich." Lewandowski told theDaily Expressahead of the tie, which kicks off on Wednesday night.

Arsenal have very good footballers. They know what it means to play in the Champions League.

We need to concentrate on ourselves. If we play our game then Arsenal probably won't get many chances. But we must play well from back to front.

Arsenal's Premier League title challenge lies in tatters after defeats to Watford and Chelsea, so a Champions League run is required to satisfy their fans. Whether that is possible or not will be answered at the Allianz Arena, but history is certainly not in their favour.
