Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder Julian Weigl is attracting interest from both AC Milan and Roma, with both sides looking to bolster their squads this January.

The 23-year-old emerged as one of the top talents in Germany during his time with 1860 Munich, with a move to Dortmund becoming finalised in the summer of 2015.

However after a change in fortunes Weigl has found himself on the fringes at Dortmund, with CalcioNews24 claiming Milan and Roma plan on capitalising on the developing situation.

Weigl has only made three Bundesliga appearances so far this season and even wore the captains armband during their cup win over Union Berlin.

Milan have been tracking the progress of Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas and Zenit midfielder Leandro Paredes in recent months, with Weigl seen as an alternative.

Lacklustre displays in the midfield has seen Eusebio Di Francesco shuffle his pack regularly, and the introduction of Weigl could bring an element of stability.
