Roofe blow rocks Leeds

Published on: 18 February 2019

Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe faces a spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed that he damaged knee ligaments during the win against Swansea City.

However, the Championship side remain hopeful that the 26-year-old will play again this season.

Roofe suffered the injury during last Wednesday's 2-1 victory against the Swans at Elland Road and underwent scans on Monday morning that confirmed the extent of the damage.

A statement from the club read: "Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe will face a period on the sidelines following confirmation that he damaged knee ligaments during the win over Swansea City at Elland Road. Roofe will work hard with the medical team at Thorp Arch to return to action as quickly as possible."

Roofe, who has scored 14 goals this season, complained of pain in his knee the day after the match against Graham Potter's team, who beat Brentford 4-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Roofe missed six matches because of a calf strain in September and October.

Leeds are currently third in the Championship table and 2/5 to be promoted this season.

They entertain Bolton Wanderers on Saturday and are 2/9 to win the match. The struggling Trotters are 1/12 to be relegated this term.
