Real Betis have announced that Rubi will take charge of the team from the 2019/20 season. The club made the statement on their official website following the manager's departure from RCD Espanyol.

Rubi signs a three-year contract and replaces Quique Setien in the hotseat at the Benito Villamarin.

The 49 year-old has enjoyed previous stints at clubs such as Girona, Real Valladolid and Levante UD, and guided RCD Espanyol to a seventh place finish in 2018/19, his first in LaLiga Santander.

He takes over a Real Betis side who came in 10th, and will be tasked with helping them return to the European places in his new role.
