Ryan Giggs hasrevealed toWales Onlinewhat he considers to be the best Manchester United team, made up of players he has shared the Old Trafford dressing room with.

And whilst there are a few surprising omissionsit still looks like a strong side that would probably wipe the floor with any of the game's current teams.

The most noticeable absentee is the enigma that was Eric Cantona who was overlooked by Giggs, whilstthe likes of Nemanja Vidic,Patrice Evra and David De Gea were also ignored.

However, that rather highlights the quality of past Manchester United teams and Giggs picked himself to lead this side as player manager, despite the presence of hard-man Roy Keane in central midfield.

Cristiano Ronaldo's inclusion up front is of little surprise and whilst he may have had his criticsin recent years, Wayne Rooney is also given the nod, ahead of the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Andy Cole.

David Beckham and Gary Neville make up the right hand side of the team after forming an impressive partnership towards the end of 90's when United claimed that historic treble.

Paul Scholes, Denis Irwin and Jaap Stam were also chosen, whilst the all important goalkeeper's jersey was given to Peter Schmeichel.

In many ways Giggs' selections show how good previous teams have been, and sadly how poor the most recent sides have played.

With only Rooney remaining in the current United squad, perhaps the Welshmandoesn't think much of the current crop, who have only managed to finish in the top four once in the last three seasons.

Still, that takes nothing away from any of the players in Giggs' team and reminds us all just how good some of Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United sides really were.
