Sam George urges GFA officials to quit admin roles, coach Black Stars if selection interference doesn't stop

MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has called for Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials to step down from their administrative positions if they continue to interfere with the coaching of the Black Stars.

George believes that the issues with the recent poor performance of the Black Stars should not be blamed on the coaches but rather on the conduct of the GFA and their selection process.

In an interview with TV3, George stated, “The problem with the Black Stars is one of favouritism and not selecting the best players. It has become an issue of people having to pay money to even get selected, or relationships and godfathers in the FA deciding the coach's selection and tactics."

He further urged the GFA officials, "If you think you know the job, resign from your position at the GFA and apply to be coach of the Black Stars and then do your selection. But you sit in an administrative capacity and you want a coach to run his selection by you. Who does that in today’s day and age?”

George's comments come after the recent appointment of Chris Hughton as the new coach of the Black Stars and highlights the long-standing issues of favoritism and interference in the selection process of the national team.
