Samartex Business Manager criticizes hasty implementation of e-ticketing in Ghana Premier League

FC Samartex 1996's Business Development Manager, Paul Anyaba, has criticized the National Sports Authority's implementation of electronic ticketing for Ghana Premier League games, stating that it was done hastily and has negatively affected fan turnout at league venues.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Anyaba emphasized that the hasty implementation of e-ticketing has resulted in poor education, which has impacted the number of fans attending matches.

He suggested that the NSA could learn from the gradual implementation of the re-denomination of the Ghana Cedi, where the old and new currencies were used side by side until people were comfortable with the new notes.

While acknowledging that e-ticketing is crucial, Anyaba said that the people of Ghana react slowly to change, and therefore, there should have been vigorous education and traditional ticketing should have run side by side with e-ticketing for some time to minimize the negative impact on fan attendance.

According to Anyaba, "E-ticketing is very good because the importance of e-ticketing far outweighs the demerits. However, we cannot take away the fact that e-ticketing is contributing to the low attendance. E-ticketing is good, but I am against how it was hastily implemented."
