Samartex deputy captain Ebenezer Acquah has shared his excitement after helping the club to clinch double under the year review.

The Timber giants defied all odds to secure the Ghana Premier League title for the first time in their history last season.

On Saturday, Samartex locked horns with FA Cup winners Nsoatreman FC in the champion of Champions at the TNA stadium in Tarkwa and emerged as winners.

Emmanuel Mamah’s goal was enough for the Timber giants to annex the title at the end of the crucial game.

“I’m very happy. Being assistant captain of the club and winning two trophies within a year is refreshing. This will motivate us going forward. Our coach has been instrumental in our success, so credit to him. He always want not to concede during matches and that is helping us a lot” he said.

Samartex made a significant to their maiden African campaign after eliminating Victoria United in the first round of the preliminary round.

They will lock horns with Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca in the next stage of the qualifiers this month.
