Samir Nasri seems to have reignited his career following a loan move to Sevilla from Manchester City this season, but the former French international has now revealed what exactly lured him to the club in the first place.

Speaking toGoal.com,the former Arsenal man explained, "I had a good pre-season but needed a change. [Pep] Guardiola wanted me to stay. In my last season, I had many injuries and wanted to start something new, fresh. So I contacted other clubs but, when I heard Sevilla, I knew I needed to come here.

"If you know anything about football, you know that Sevilla has returned many players back to the top.I also asked Jesus Navas, [David] Silva and Nolito about the club, the city, and everything was good. There was good food, very nice girls¦ I talked to Guardiola and he told me there is a great coach in [Sevilla assistant] Juanma Lillo. That was all I needed to know. It was perfect for me."

Aside from the food and girls, Nasri is certainlyenjoying his football on the pitch and has become a key figure under Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli, with many expecting the loan deal to be made into a permanent one at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old had spent the last eight seasons in the Premier League, having signed for the Gunners in 2008. However, he followed the likes of Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor in making the switch from North London to the Etihad Stadium, where he has since diminished into an outcast .

Nasri's change of fortunes in La Liga may well save his footballing career in the long run, but it remains to be seen whether he has a future under Pep Guardiola in Manchester.
