The manager of Asamoah Gyan, Samuel Anim Addo has indicated that their camp welcomes the re-appointment of Andre Dede Ayew as the captain of the Black Stars team.

Gyan, 34, lost the captain's armband of the Ghana senior national team in 2019 when he was elevated to the role of the general captain.

Though it raised a lot of controversy with the striker taking the decision to sit out of the AFCON tournament at a point, his camp now looks to have totally moved on.

On the back of the re-appointment of Ander Ayew as the Black Stars captain, Sammy Anim Addo who is the manager for Asamoah Gyan has noted that he is always ready to support whoever is leader of the team.

“Asamoah Gyan has held successful meetings with the Black Stars management committee. The Asamoah Gyan camp has never liked the idea of the ‘General Captain’. There was no way he was going the wear the armband when he isn’t the captain anymore. Due to his love for Ghana, he returned to play for the team on the request of the President and other top officials even when he announced his retirement,” the football administrator told Nhyira FM.

He added, “Gyan believes he is a role model for most of the players and regardless his role in the national team. At any point in time he is willing to give his brotherly support to any leader present and is only interested in serving Ghana in any capacity. This is the best decision taken by CK Akunnor”.

Andre Ayew is being deputized by Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori in the latest decision taken by coach CK Akonnor and his technical team.
