US Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi has disclosed that Ghanaian midfielder Duncan “wanted to be sold” in the winter transfer window.

The 26-year-old completed a €15m switch to Fiorentina on the transfer deadline day, bringing an end to his four-year stay with the Neroverdi.

"Duncan wanted to go, those who work here every day can be satisfied because if there had never been any requests for Duncan before, and now he is sold, it means good work has taken place," said De Zerbi in his press conference.

"Duncan’s transfer is an important capital gain for the club. It means he has improved as a player."

He made 13 appearances for US Sassuolo, scored one goal and provided five assists in all competition this term.

He has featured in eight games of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.
