Sassuolo has locked down Italian-born Ghanaian midfielder Justin Kumi, a rising talent from their Primavera squad who has now cemented his place in the first team under coach Fabio Grosso.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Kumi's contract renewal is expected soon, ensuring his future at the Serie A side.

Justin Kumi’s journey began in the youth academy of Castelfranco Veneto before joining Giorgione at fifteen, and later Sassuolo's youth ranks. In 2023, he attracted interest from top European clubs, including Barcelona and PSV, due to his pivotal role in Sassuolo’s under-19 team, which clinched the league title during the 2023/24 season.

The 19-year-old made his senior debut for Sassuolo in February 2024 during a 1-6 loss to Napoli. Kumi, who has represented Italy at the U-18 and U-19 levels, remains eligible to play for Ghana through his parents.

His rise through the ranks marks him as one of Sassuolo’s brightest prospects.
