German-born Ghanaian defender Anton Donkor is set to join Schalke 04 from Eintracht Braunschweig ahead of the summer transfer window, Footballghana.com understands.
The 26-year-old has had an amazing season in the Bundesliga with Braunschweig and has become a subject of interest for several clubs.
Donkor’s current contract the Bundesliga 2 outfit is expected to expire at the end of the season and will be severing ties with the club as he aim for a different challenge.
According to reports in Germany, Schalke 04 are closing in on signing the Ghanaian defender on a free transfer in the summer.
It is said talks between Schalke 04 and the Ghanaian player are far advanced and could secure a move in the coming days.
Donkor has so far netted 2 and assisted 2 across all league games for Eintracht Braunschweiger in the ongoing 2. Bundesliga season.
He still remains eligible to play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Germany U18 & U20 national youth teams.
