Sean Dyche Left Frustrated After Burnley's Defeat to Liverpool

Published on: 12 March 2017

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has revealed his frustration at his Clarets side losing 2-1 to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Burnley had taken the lead through an excellent goal, with Matt Lowton assisting Ashley Barnes on seven minutes. However, a lacklustre Liverpool managed to turn the match around, meaning that Dyche's side are still waiting for their first away win of the season.

"It's a tough one to take, because everyone gave a really good account of ourselves and went up with a sublime goal, but it's a tough place to come," Dyche said.

"Their first was a soft one to concede before half-time, and the second one we're disappointed with but we gave a really good account of ourselves. We just needed a scratch of luck along the way.''

Despite the defeat, Burnley performed admirably, and were unlucky to lose the game, not only taking the lead, but also keeping the Reds under pressure through an ably executed game plan.

Dyche continued:"Our defence was good, they scored with their first effort on target. Barnes had a good chance to score an equaliser and Lowton too.

2 - Burnley have the worst away record in the Premier League this season; winning just two points from 39 available (W0 D2 L11). Scraps.

"We wanted to put them under pressure in their box, we did that with playing some good football too but we know we haven't won away and we want to correct that.

"It's not easy when you've got question marks over you but there were clean minds and strength of character today, we have to continue that way."

After struggling to replicate their home form on the road all season, Burnley fans should be encouraged by their side's performance. The match at Anfield was the third of four successive away matches for the Clarets, and fans will be optimistic for a better result next time out, when they visit the Stadium of Light, and David Moyes' struggling Sunderland.
