Sean Dyche Wants Andre Gray to Emulate Harry Kane as He Pushes for an England Place

Burnley manager Sean Dyche wants his star striker Andre Gray to be more like Tottenham hotshotHarry Kane.

The 25-year-old Englishmanis in the frame for his first senior international call-up when boss Gareth Southgate names his squad for the friendly match with Germany and World Cup qualifier against Lithuania later this month.

This would be some achievement for Gray, who wasplayingnon-league football for Luton Town just three years ago. He would be following in the footsteps of fellow former non-league start Jamie Vardy. But his boss Dyche wants him to aim higher.

Kane is an all-round striker whohas been one of the Premier League's stand-out performers this season and goes into the weekend level with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez and Everton's Romelu Lukaku on 17 goals in the race for the Golden Boot

Dyche believes that :The basics are all there for Andre. Can he score goals? Yes, of course.

You know the higher you go in your career, the more tools you're going to need. You can't just rely on the one good thing you've already got.

"So it's about adapting to the all-round game, especially at international level. And I think Harry Kane's been terrific. I have enjoyed watching him from a distance.

For me, he's right up there as an all-round centre-forward. He can do most of the things you want from a modern striker."

There are reasons for Burnley fans to be concerned when they hear Gray's name associated with Spurs, as the North London club are said to be monitoring his contract situation - his current deal runs out in 15 months.

But for now, Dyche wants Gray to learn from Kane from a distance, as the striker is looking to break a three game scoring drought when they travel to relegation threatened Swansea on Saturday afternoon.

So I think Andre, if he˜s going to get in the England side, has got to be ready to take on people like Harry Kane.

I still think he's got things he can learn, Dyche added. He's still improving. I still think he's getting used to the realities of the Premier League, because it's not easy.

But he is a player who is improving. That's a thing I'm big on here. Whether he's ready for England, that's for other people to decide.
