Sensational Hearts midfielder Winful Cobinna blasts referee in draw against Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Winful Cobinna is disappointed by the performance of referee Dally Gagba in their 1-1 draw with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the outstanding Ghana Premier League played on Sunday.

Refere Dally Gagba awarded Kumasi Asante Kotoko a controversial penalty in the final minutes of the game. Saddick Adams expertly converted from the spot to cancel out a 60th minute strike from Kwame Kizito for Accra Hearts Oak.

Winful Cobinna who was the architect in the heart of midfield for the Phobians was key to the opening goal by Accra Hearts of Oak after some spectacular quick feet dribbles to find Fatawu Mohammed on the right who laid a neat pass to Kizito to finish.

The 25 year old midfielder revealed the game was a tough one but felt they deserved all three points.

“It was a tough game but playing away from home, I think we did well and we deserved a point. We were able to score the first goal but we were unlucky to concede such a penalty,” Cobinna said.

Meanwhile, a disappointed Cobinnah vented his frustrations on the referee for awarding Kotoko a dubious penalty.

“As you can see, we didn’t lose concentration, we didn’t lose our stamina. When they equalized, they were on top of us and I can say the referee was with them. I will say it without thinking twice because you can see the penalty, it wasn’t a penalty. The referee made his mind for them to get a penalty which is not good if you are a referee you have to be fair. This is not good for Ghana football.” he added.

Winful Cobinna will join his colleagues in the Black Stars team B camp as they prepare for the WAFU and CHAN qualifiers.
