According to L'Équipe, OM striker Bamba Dieng was supposedly the target of racist comments. Lazio fans reportedly made monkey noises as he entered the pitch, according to journalists at the game, including Karim Attab of Maritima Media.

After the game, both manager Jorge Sampaoli and goalkeeper Pau López were queried about the reported occurrences, and both stated that they had not heard anything.

The audio from the game will be listened to by Marseille's management and UEFA, while the match report currently makes no mention of the occurrences. Should the tapes prove these allegations, the Ligue 1 team has indicated that they will submit a complaint:

“Following the presumption of racist shouts aimed at our players, the club reiterates that it condemns all forms of discrimination. OM reserves the right to file a complaint should UEFA confirm these serious accusations.”
