Serie A Player of the Week | Round 17

Published on: 23 December 2018

Just when it looked like three points were out of Sampdoria’s reach, up popped Gianluca Caprari to bag two goals in four minutes at the death to help the Blucerchiati to a 4-2 win over Empoli.

Sampdoria had already made the comeback after Empoli took an early lead through a Manuel Pasqual penalty. A Gaston Ramirez stunner and captain Fabio Quagliarella put the away side back in control before Francesco Caputo looked to have stolen a point for the Tuscan side.

Then came Caprari, who stole the show and the points for Sampdoria.

His impact in mind, the team at Forza Italian Football have named him as our Serie A Player of the Week for round 17.

Caprari has had his ups and downs with Samp this season, but Marco Giampaolo will be hoping his forward can use this as a platform to get back to his best just before Serie A takes its winter break.
