La Liga sideSevilla have approached Liverpool over the potential signing of centre-back Mamadou Sakho, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Frenchman has been banished to the reserves this season after falling out with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp. Sakho was sent home from Liverpool's pre-season tour of the USA after reportedly not respecting rules which had been put in place for the trip.

Sevilla approach Liverpool about signing Mamadou Sakho. Liverpool will only let him leave on permanent deal & they want £20 million.

It is widely expected the centre-back will leave the club for pastures new during the January transfer window, but Liverpool are eager to make a profiton the defender, who signed for the Anfield club back in 2013.

Solhekol reports Sakho has been the subject of an enquiry from La Liga side Sevilla. The Spanish side have experienced great success over the past few seasons, winning the Europa League an impressive three times in row.

Sakho couldn't play a part in the final last year due to his ban for testing positive for fat-burner, although the case has since been dismissed by UEFA.

The signings of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan over the summer meant Sakho would have had greater competition for places had he remained in Jurgen Klopp's plans, but his conduct before the season began has meant he has only played reserve team football since the fallout.

Sakho has made 80 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring three goals. His best campaign arguably came in his debut season, playing 18 Premier League games and almost helping the Merseyside club to a first ever Premier League title in 2013-14.
