Sevilla president Jose Castro has revealed he hopes midfield enforcer Steven N'Zonzi remains with the club, amidst interest from the Premier League's biggest clubs.

With the winter transfer window now open, the Sevilla hierarchy face a battle to keep the Frenchman after he emerged asa highly coveteddefensive midfield talentduring his stint in Spain.

According to the Express, the former Blackburn and Stoke player has sparked interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City after shining so far for Sevilla in a campaign that currently sees them lie third in the table - hot on the heels of Barcelona in second.

The paper claims N'Zonzi's desire is to leave the club despitehis top performances, in favourof a return to England.

But Castro apparently has other ideas for him, discussing the idea of a new contract for the player. He told Spanish radio station Cadena COPE: "He is a magnificent player. If he was good before, now he is better. We want him to stay here for a long time. We need good players in order to achieve our sporting objectives"

"His [contract] renewal? The player is succeeding at Sevilla and has to think that the people want him, and that we are enjoying his game. I hope that he is here for a long time, and that he is so happy."

If N'Zonzi was to leave Sevilla it would have been a brief tenure for the 28-year-old,having only arrived in July2015. In that time, he helped the club clinch the Europa League trophy for the third consecutive season with victory over Liverpool.
