Sevilla submits bid for Ghana's Alexander Djiku

According to L'Equipe, Spanish LaLiga side, Sevilla FC, have made a €2 million offer for Strasbourg center-back, Alexander Djiku, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The Ghanaian defender has been on the radar of the Andalusian team for some time and the bid includes bonuses that can be easily achieved and a percentage of any future sale.

Strasbourg, however, is looking for a higher fee for the 28-year-old and is not eager to lose its vice-captain.

Djiku's departure would free up some space in the wage bill but would also leave a gap in the defense line. The Alsatians are currently in the 16th position in the Ligue 1, having just escaped the relegation zone with their second victory of the season against Lyon.

Sevilla, on the other hand, is in a precarious situation as well, sitting 19th in LaLiga. If Djiku accepts the offer and makes the move to Spain, he would be joining a team that is also fighting to stay in its league.

Djiku has been a vital member of Strasbourg since joining the team in 2016, appearing in more than 100 matches and leading the team on several occasions. His experience and leadership would be valuable assets for Sevilla as it tries to move up in the league standings.

The final decision will be based on Strasbourg's ability to find a suitable replacement and its willingness to let go of its vice-captain.
