Sevilla very close to signing Ghana and Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku

La Liga side, Sevilla are said to be very close to the signing of Ghana and Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku, according to emerging reports from Spain.

Djiku had a fantastic season with Strasbourg during the 2021/22 season which ended few weeks ago.

The 27-year-old made 33 appearances across all competitions for his side and scored on goal in the process as Strasbourg finished 6th in the French Ligue 1.

His impressive display for Strasbourg saw him being linked with several clubs in Europe with Sevilla in pole position to acquire his services.

According to Colina De Nervion, Sevilla have advanced their negotiations with Strasbourg for the signing of defender Alexander Djiku, which pushes Jules Kounde closer to signing for Chelsea.

While Racing Strasbourg is demanding €15m for the top defender, Sevilla is said to have made an initial offer of €6m and a deal is close.

Sevilla see Black Stars centre-back as the ideal replacement for Jules Kounde who is set to join Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Villarreal has also entered the race to sign Alexander Djiku who is seen as a replacement of Pau Torres who is set to join Manchester United this summer.
