Shanghai Jiading Huilong sign Ghanaian trio for new Chinese season

Shanghai Jiading Huilong have strengthened their squad with the signing of three Ghanaian foreign players: Evans Eddie, Jacob Mensah, and Frederick Assante. The trio officially joined the club on April 14, 2023.

The Chinese club, who finished 13th in the Chinese league last season, have been preparing for the new season under coach Li Yenan. They have re-signed eight players from the previous campaign, and introduced several new faces, including Feng Gang and Tu Dongxu.

The three Ghanaian players are also expected to make an impact. Evans Eddie, a striker born in 2000, previously played for Heilongjiang Ice City Football Club in China.

He contributed 11 goals and 1 assist in 35 games in the domestic arena, and was named the best player in the 8th and 27th rounds of the Chinese League in the 2022 season.

Jacob Mensah, a defender born in 2000, played for Accra Lions FC in Ghana for a season and a half. He played 39 league games for the club before leaving Ghana, and has since played 15 games and scored two goals this season.

Fredrik K. Asante, also a striker born in 2001, played for Accra Lions Club in the Ghana Premier League for a total of one and a half seasons.
