Shay Given defends Stoke players\' attitude

Stoke City goalkeeper Shay Given denies the players are already packing their bags for the summer holidays.

Former Wales defender-turned-pundit Danny Gabbidon hinted that Stoke looked like they had already knocked off for the summer in defeat at Swansea City.

But Given told BBC Sport: "I think there is argument for that happening once you get above 40 and you're safe and that kind of thing, but it is down to manager of course and the staff and the players themselves, and to keep fighting in every single game, and you have to do that.

"I mean, look at Stoke. We're 11th at the minute and we want to finish in the top half, we want to finish the season on a high and we're all disappointed after the weekend, of course. We all want to push on.

"It's about professional pride – even if I'm playing five-a-side out in the street I want to go and win the game. I don't go out to lose any game of football. I think ever professional football has to go out and perform…"
