Simeone commits to Atletico

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeoene has said he will stay with the club and aims to rebuild the squad for next season.

It looks set to be a busy summer at the club with Antione Griezmann among a number of players set to leave.

Juanfran, Diego Godin and Filipe Luis could leave on free transfers with Vitolo, Santiago Arias, Thomas Partey, Rodri and Saul Niguez all having been linked with moves away in the summer transfer window.

I know that year on year it's always more difficult and that makes us see our real selves and generate enthusiasm.

The uncertainty surrounding the squad led to speculation that Simeone himself could seek a fresh challenge.

However, after a friendly with Beitar Jerusalem on Tuesday, the manager said that whatever else happens during the summer, he will still be there for the start of next season.

He said: "I like my job, I feel very identified and committed to the club. I know that year on year it's always more difficult and that makes us see our real selves and generate enthusiasm.

"Next season there will be football players who will arrive with great enthusiasm and hopefully adapt to the responsibility that means being at Atletico Madrid."

Simeone has been in charge at the Wanda Metropolitano since 2011, winning the La Liga title in 2014 as well as the Copa del Rey.

He has also led the club to European success, having won the Europa League twice as well as getting them into two Champions League finals.

This season they finished second in the La Liga table, behind Barcelona but eight points clear of Madrid rivals Real.

They qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League but were knocked out in the last 16 by Juventus.

Meanwhile this year's Champions League final is an all-English affair with Liverpool 19/20 to win with Tottenham 14/5.

The Europa League final also sees two Premier League clubs competing with Chelsea 11/8 to win with Arsenal 19/10.
