Clermont Foot defender Alidu Seidu has disclosed that it has always been his childhood dream to represent the Black Stars of Ghana.

The 22-year-old was handed his first international call-up for the 2022 Kirin Cup in Japan, making his debut against the host nation before playing in the penalty shootout victory over Chile.

He was again called-up for the September friendlies and lasted entire duration of the game against Nicaragua.

"Being in the national team is a great achievement because every player dreams of playing for his national team," he said on Star Connect.

"Since childhood, it’s been a dream to play in the national team so if I’ve got the opportunity, I am very happy."

Seidu added, "For me, the dream is to play. I won’t say because it’s the national team and it’s big, I have to put pressure on myself."

"I was called to the national team because of how I play for my club so I try to do the same thing or give my best to the national team."

Seidu was named in Ghana's 55-man provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA Word Cup and will be hoping to make the final squad which will be named on Monday, November 14.

Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
