Candy Soccer Academy Ladies head coach, Smith Effah Owusu has appealed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to support women clubs in the lower divisions.
Speaking to the media at the second Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA) Women’s Division one League awards on June 30, 2022, in Sunyani, the coach bemoaned the lack of support given to clubs in the low divisions of women’s football.
“From last season till now, not a single football has been given to us by either the RFA or the GFA. I use my meager salary to buy balls and meet the needs of the girls, and you know it is not easy. There hasn’t been a day whereby you will not get somebody who is sick.
“The GFA, they are interested in the women’s premier league, ignoring the first divisions. But this is where the girls can get into the national teams or senior teams,” coach Smith Effah Owusu said.
In appeal, the Soccer Academy Ladies head coach urged the Ghana FA to turn attention to supporting women clubs in the lower divisions where more of the talents are developed.
