Southampton Full-Back Ryan Bertrand Doubtful for Liverpool Clash After Missing England Training

Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand is doubtful for their clash against Liverpool on Saturday after the 27-year-old along with Three Lionscaptain Wayne Rooney missed the training session, as confirmed by England's Twitter account.


England tweeted on Monday morning just after 11 o'clock saying the full-back missed the session with a 'minor issues.'

The weekend'sgame will see the return of Sadio Mane to St Mary's,with fellowex-Saints stars Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne are all set to feature against their former club.


Claude Puel will have to revert to 21-year-old Sam McQueen, who did an outstanding job as left-back cover when Bertrand was out injured last month and Puel will have confidence in McQueen to produce the goods against the Merseyside club. Young left-back Matt Targett is also out injured giving the youngster another chance to impress.


Liverpool have scored 30 goals in 11 league games this season and the back four of Southampton will have a big job on their handsif they are to keep Liverpool quiet. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will certainly look to target the inexperience of McQueen and he could be in for a long day for the Saints.


Southampton lost 2-1 against Hull last time out and will need to massively improve if they are to pick up some points against Liverpool, who won 6-1 against Watford before the international break.
