After having been pursued very hard by Premier League clubs last January, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, and Liverpool, Dutch international centre-back Virgil Van Dijk (26) has now been ruled out by Southampton 25-player training camp list, drawn up by new manager Mauricio Pellegrino. Former Celtic Glasgow player is therefore likely to leave Saints after two seasons, despite being on a deal with them until June 2022.
