Spanish international of Ghanaian descent Nico Williams is close to signing a contract extension with Athletic Bilbao.
Williams' current contract expires in June 2024 but Footballghana.com understands contract extension talks are far advance. The extension is expected to come with a pay rise.
The 21-year-old has established himself as key member of the Athletic Bilbao squad since breaking into the team two seasons ago.
He has become a transfer target for a host of clubs in Europe including giants, Barcelona, Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa due to his swashbuckling performance for Bilbao.
Amid interest, the enterprising is set to commit his future to Bilbao by extending his stay at the club.
The highly-rated winger is yet to open his scoring account this season but he has four assists to his name after five appearances in the Spanish top-flight.
Williams was included in the Spain squad for the 2022 World Cup and featured in all their games in Qatar.
