Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Aleksandr Selikhov apologised to their fans after last night's humiliation at Liverpool.
The Reds fired seven goals past Spartak in their Champions League encounter, marking the worst result in the history of Russian clubs in European football.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, we're sorry for the fans," said Selikhov. "They played open football."
Spartak coach Massimo Carrera admits the performance shocked him.
"I can not explain it, we went onto the field, and Liverpool beat us in all components.
"To play such matches, we need sporting anger and fighting qualities."
He continued: "I was disappointed because I expected to see a completely different match, I do not want to say that we had to win, but to show something more, to resist Liverpool somehow differently."
