Sporting steps up advances to sign Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey

Ghana international, Tariq Lamptey could leave Brighton & Hove Albion before the close of the summer transfer window.

Multiple sources in Portugal have indicated that Sporting Lisbon are in the market for a full-back and have identified the Black Stars right-back as the right fit.

The Portuguese giants are light at the back following the permanent transfer of Pedro Porro to English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

After scanning the market for potential replacements, Sporting has set sight on bringing in Tariq Lamptey.

While no offer has been presented to Brighton & Hove Albion, it is understood that the Portuguese top-flight club remains interested and could make an official bid this month.

The club is reportedly ready to pay around 10 million euros to make the deal happen.

It is likely that the Black Stars defender could fancy the move. Although he is rated high at Brighton, various injuries in the last two seasons have affected his playing time at the club.

He must now fight his way into the starting eleven of his team before the start of the new football season.
