Stade Rennais FC have joined the race for the signature of Ghana defender Alexander Djiku and are keen on rivaling Real Betis for the player.

As reported by your most trusteed Ghana sports online portal, the Black Stars centre-back is high on the wish list of the Spanish La Liga club.

Although the Spanish outfit leads the race for the signing of the defender, French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais has joined in to change the dynamic.

With Alexander Djiku expected to prefer to stay in France, sources suggest that he could opt to sign for the Rennes-based club instead.

However, as it now, both clubs have not seen any bid accepted by the player’s club, Racing Strasbourg.

If Rennais manages to sign Alexander Djiku, they will now have three Ghanaian players in the team.

There is already Jeremy Doku and Kamaldeen Sulemana. Although Doku played for Belgium, he is of Ghanaian descent.
