Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes and Premier League outfit Southampton are locked in a fierce battle over the signature of Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.

The 20 year old centre-back has been in mesmerizing form since breaking into the La Liga side this season, earning praise from fans and managers.

It was earlier reported by numerous sources that Rennes and later Southampton have started talks with the youngster.

In the latest reveal by AS, Salisu is willing to move to Rennes considering that they have earned a place in the Champions League for next season. His current release clause stands at 12 million euros.

Southampton also provides an attractive option for the Ghanaian due to the nature of the league. He is yet to make a final decision.
