Leicester City and England midfielder has backed current caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare to be the next Leicester City boss and says that Shakespeare is a "good fit" for the club having been with the Foxes for several years.

Since being given the reins Shakespeare has masterminded homevictories over Liverpool and Hull City to help ease relegation worries and do his claim for the job permanently no harm at all.

Drinkwater spoke toDaily Mailafter his side's victory over fellow strugglers Hull City on Saturday

'We have won two games, it is not done,' he said. 'We will keep pushing on and making sure we are doing what we need to in the week to prepare ourselves for the game.

"We will support any manager who comes in. But every player probably knows Shakes more than anyone else. If he does get it then it would be a good fit. A few of us have known him a long time. If he does continue we will support him all the way.

He has taken charge and is simplifying what he can, which is helping a lot. We are very good at doing the simple things, there is no reason to complicate it."

The Leicester City players have received a fair amount of criticism over the departure of league winning manager Claudio Ranieri and their swift return to title winning form.

Drinkwater however replied saying the players: "Try and learn from it rather than get stung from it," and that the squad do not pay attention to critics who wish relegation upon the side over how former manager Ranieri was treated.

When asked whether maintaining their winning form will silence these critics Drinkwater added:

"If it shuts people up then it shuts them up."

Leicester left for Dubai on Sundayfor four day warm weather training ahead of their crunch Champions League second leg against Sevilla next Tuesday.
