Steve Morrow & Dennis Bergkamp in Running to Become New Arsenal Academy Manager

Arsenal are considering both Steve Morrow and Dennis Bergkamp to replace the departing academy managerAndries Jonker,the Mirrorhave reported.


The Dutchman was appointed as manager of Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on Monday having been at the Arsenal academy since 2014.


And the Gunners are reportedly considering promoting Morrow, currently head of scouting for the club's academy, as a replacement.

Club legendBergkamp is also believed to be a potential option, although he may be reluctant to leave his role as Ajax assistant manager.


Former Liverpool coach Pep Segura is another candidate. The Spaniard currently works with Barcelona and Arsenal reportedly approached him even before Jonker left.


Speaking about the search for a new academy manager,CEO Ivan Gazidis said: "Arsenal is known around the world for its development of young players and we are confident we will find the right person to continue to lead our progress."

Luke Hobbs, theacademy's head of football operations, has been appointed as an interim academy manager.


Gazidis added: "I am confident Luke will be a safe pair of hands following Andries's departure and he will continue the excellent progress we are making in this important part of our club."


Freddie Ljungberg also left his post as youth coach to join Jonker at Wolfsburg as assistant manager. The Swede, who managed the under-15 side at Arsenal, has been replaced byJan Van Loon.
