Stoke boss Hughes admits Arnautovic was \'high maintenance\'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has admitted that managing West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic was difficult due to his attitude.

Arnautovic will be squaring off against former club at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday and ahead of the controversial Austrian's return, manager Mark Hughes has taken a pop at the player by saying that he was 'high maintenance'.

Hughes said: "Marko was great here. He had a few issues at previous clubs and couldn't really find a place to express himself and he found that here.

"We have worked with Marko and maybe enabled him to be the best he can be and there's different ways to do that. He probably took up a lot of our time here, but the end product was that he was the creative spark we needed.

"I don't think he will get a good reception if I'm being honest, but I think people will remember him with fondness in terms of what he produced.

"Maybe the circumstances of the transfer will be fresh in people's minds, but he was great here. Hopefully, he won't have an influential game."
