Stoke City 2-2 Leicester City: 10-Man Leicester Come From Two Down to Grab a Point at the Britannia

Published on: 16 December 2016

10-man Leicester City scored two late headers to grab a point away to Stoke in a game that looked long gone by the end of the first-half.

10 man Leicester come from 2 down to earn a point against 12 man Stoke. The stuff of Champions.

Stoke City looked much more fluid going forward with Bojan back in the side whilst the main attacking outlet for Leicester, once again, was Jamie Vardy who they targeted with long balls over the top at every given opportunity...Until he was sent off.

Vardy lunged in with both feet off the ground in a challenge on Mame Biram Diouf, but in all honesty, it could've just aseasily been a yellow. From this point on, Leicester totally collapsed - concedinga penalty thanks to a Danny Simpson handball, which Bojan calmly put away. "1-0 to the referee," chanted the Leicester fans.

The Foxes then went on to pick up five yellow cards in a half that saw Kasper Schmeichel having to hold back Claudio Ranieri as he tried to get to referee, Craig Pawson. Chaos at the Britannia.

Giannelli Imbula had an effort that cannoned off the post but Joe Allen was there to heap more misery on the away team, tapping the ball into the back of the net from close range. 2-0.

Jonathan Walters had the first real chance of the second-half around the hour mark but was unable to head beyond Schmeichel from close range following a wonderful cross from Diouf - the kind of chance that the isolated Islam Slimani would've been dreaming of at the other end.

Presumably flustered by the ridicule, pressure and confrontation, the referee made a rather strange error by booking Erik Pieters for a foul that Bruno Martins Indi made; easy mistake to make, they do look very alike...

Leicester spent the majority of the second-half on the back foot but within two minutes of coming on, Demarai Gray linked up with Leonardo Ulloa who - despite the best efforts of Ryan Shawcross on the line - headed the ball over the line to make it 2-1.

Minutes later, Fuchs whipped inanother beautiful cross that was this time finished by Daniel Amartey. In a game where the referee looked to have stolen the limelight, this Leicester fightback will be the main talking point following a game that the Foxes will be hoping will kickstart their season.
