Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is enjoying their wing-back system in preseason.

Butland has confessed to a slight leaning towards a three-man central defence rather than a flat back four.

"I will always communicate and make sure everyone is where I want them to be however we play," says Butland.

"But I think it (a three-man central defence) fits our personnel quite well. I think it gets the likes of Ramadan and Shaq inside the pitch and gives our full backs licence to get forward and they are great at doing that.

"Then you've still got the solidarity of the three at the back, so I really like it.

"It's good to have options and I think we've got the personnel to adapt and I think that's key in a Premier League season when you come up against so many different oppositions.

"But for me, I've still got to keep the ball out of the net. As long as I do that, I don't care what formation we play."
