Due to an injury to his knee cartilage, Nikolas Nartey is not able to play at this time.

The Ghanaian midfielder, born in Denmark, had surgery in August, but according to Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeneb, he is healing steadily and should be back playing in the new year.

“This is a long-term injury. But I think we'll see him here more often in the new year. Then it will be set up,” said Sebastian Hoeneb according to the Kicker.

Hoeneb also provided confirmation that the midfielder's recuperation was proceeding smoothly while attending Thursday afternoon's 2-0 friendly victory against FC Nurnberg, a team in the second tier.

Nartey signed a four-year contract with VfB Stuttgart on August 29, 2019. Nartey was loaned out to Hansa Rostock for the 2019–20 season, one day after joining Stuttgart.

Nartey was loaned to SV Sandhausen on July 31, 2020, and remained there until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has made nine appearances for Stuttgart last season.
