Sunderland are believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing St Mirren's teenage winger Kyle McAllister, according to theMail.

The talented youngster broke through to the Scottish club's first-team last season and has continued to impress regularly, attracting the attentions of sides south of the border.

McAllister, 17, can operate comfortably on both wings and can also slot in behind the striker, making him a potentially useful attacking asset for interested parties. Nottingham Forest are also thought to be keen on securing his services.

Sunderland boss David Moyes is hoping to sign a natural wingerin January following Duncan Watmore's cruciate knee ligament injury, which has ruled the Black Cats midfielder out for the season. Moyes was also hit by news that Yann M'Vila has decided not to return to Wearside from Rubin Kazan, after scrapping a deal that was in place.

Moyes admitted that his side are back in the midst of a scrap to avoid relegation following their disappointing 3-0 loss to fellow strugglers Swansea on Saturday, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table.

We were out of it a while ago, now we're back in it.It's chopped and changed and it will continue to do so.

I think there's a lot of teams winning at home at this level and Swansea have won theirs today.
