Sunderland Set to Dramatically Lower Season Ticket Prices in Order to Attract Next Generation Fans

Struggling Sunderland are planning to restructure their season ticket pricing next season, regardless of whether David Moyes' bottom side remain in the top flight, or reside in the Championship in the 2017-18 campaign.

TheDaily Mailhave revealed that the Black Cats are certain to grant the dramatic changes to their season ticket prices as a sign of gratitude to their 'valued support.'

Under 16's will be able to scoop a season ticket next season for as little as £50. A price which would work out as less than £3 a match at the Stadium of Light.

Even more remarkably, the young supporters who desire to sit in the family section of the stadium could purchase the same ticket for just £25.

The north-east outfit also revealed that due to the falling ticket prices, the club is now cheaper to watch in the present day, than it was a decade ago.

Other pledges towards the ticket prices include£170 for the under 22's, whilst adult season tickets will start at just £350. The more senior supporters of the club, being over 65, will also be able to walk away with a deal worth £250.

Other top tier season tickets can exceed well overthe £1000 mark.

Sunderland's chief executive Martin Bain outlinedthe reasoning behind the new tantalising offers.

"Our local community gives us tremendous backing and committing to keeping our prices at an affordable level is just one of the ways we can show how much we value their support." Said Bain.

"It is key for us to be able to demonstrate that supporting Sunderland is something that is accessible to young fans.

"A parent or grandparent can bring a youngster to the Stadium of Light for £25 for the whole season, which we hope will encourage a new generation of supporters to develop a greater bond with Sunderland that will be invaluable in our desire to make the club stronger."

The core support of the famous Premier League club has dwindled in recent months. Their state of the art arena is regularly patched with empty seats come kick-off on match day.

With the newly projected ticket pricing set to take shape next year, hopefully Bain will be able to lure a new band of supporters to keep their 50,000 capacity stadium full to the brim with fresh, avid spectators.
