Head coach for Premier Soccer League (PSL) side SuperSport United, Kaitano Tembo has bemoaned the departure of Ghanaian international Richard Boateng as well as some other experienced players from the club.

The club has recently parted ways with some old players from the team in a bid to bring in some young guys to better their 7th place finish from last season.

Some of the players who have become casualties in the process include Ghana’s Richard Boateng, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, James Keene, and Thuso Phala.

Speaking in an interview on the back of the departure of the experienced players, Coach Kaitano Tembo admitted that the team has lost football experience in the squad.

“If you look at the players we have lost it’s up to 150 years of football experience [between them] because of their ages,” the gaffer told Sowetanlive.

He added, “It’s always difficult losing experienced players but at the same time it’s an opportunity for youngsters to get to the next level. It also allows us to blend new blood into the squad”.

Richard Boateng joined the Matsatsantsa as a free agent prior to the start of the 2017 PSL campaign. He has featured for the side just 14 times in the last two years though he had been regarded as a key figure in the team’s setup.
