Swansea City Record-Signing Flop at Centre of Alleged Loan Offer From La Liga Side

Borja Baston's miserable stay at Swansea City could be close to an end after Sevilla reportedly made a loan offer for the striker.

Baston only joined the Swans for a club-record fee of around £15.5m last summer, but has found game time with the Premier League side hard to come by.

TheDaily Mail has now claimed that Sevilla have emerged as a possible destination for Baston after they approached Swansea over the 24-year-old's availability.

The La Liga side are believed to have made a six-month loan bid for Baston's services, but it remains to be seen whether the South Wales outfit would be willing to entertain such an offer.

Swansea appointed Paul Clement as their third permanent manager of the season, following the sackings of Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley this term, as the Swans struggle to retain their top flight status in England after a horrendous first half of the season that has gleaned a paltry 15 points from 20 matches tus far.

Guidolin was the man responsible for bringing Baston from Spain to England during last summer's transfer window - the forward moving to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid and signed a four-year deal with Swansea upon his arrival.

However, a thigh injury on the eve of the 2016/17 campaign ruled him out of action for a month, and led to a delayed first-team debut which eventually came in the 1-0 loss to Southampton on September 18.

Since then, Baston has featured 12 times for the Jacks in all competitions, but only four of those appearances have come from the start. Baston has also registered just one strike during his first six months in the UK - the solitary goal coming in a 3-2 defeat away to Arsenal in Bradley's first match as Swansea manager.

Sevilla now hope that they can convince Swansea to part with Baston and help the forward rediscover the form that made him a target for the Swans in the first place.

With the winter transfer window now open and speculation rife as to new targets that Clement would like to bring to the Liberty stadium, Baston could become one of the first casualties of the former Derby County boss' reign.
