The manager for Swansea City, Steve Cooper is sweating over the fitness of talisman Andre Ayew as he hopes to have the Ghanaian in good condition for the playoffs of the English Championship.

The Black Stars captain has been the star man for the Welsh club this season and is being backed to excel in the playoffs as well where his team will be aiming to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Unfortunately, his recent injury in the match against Wycombe Wanders is giving his manager and the team something to worry about.

Although he managed to feature in the team’s last match against Reading, Swansea City needs to be cautious in the upcoming games to ensure he stays fit.

Speaking in a post-match interview, manager Steve Cooper has hinted at possibly giving Andre Ayew a rest in the final matches of the English Championship before the playoffs.

“Andre, if we didn’t need him today [against Reading], great. That would have been lovely.

“We knew he’d been medically cleared to play and it ended up being a good move. There’s been good work from the medical team and it was great from Andre,” the Swansea boss said.

He continued, “Sometimes I hear if you finish higher you are at home in the second game, or you are going to have a load of good form to do well in the play-offs. We tried that one last year didn’t we, having good form, and didn’t get through.

“Obviously, we have to think about how we approach these next two games. But it won’t be a case of 10 or 11 changes.”

Up next for Swansea City, the team will take on Derby County next weekend.
