Tanzania players gets land reward for Afcon qualification

The Tanzania Technical team and playing body have been rewarded with pieces of land each having their qualification to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt achieved, according to reports.

On Sunday, the Taifa Stars defeated Uganda 3-0 at Uhuru Stadium, Dar to secure their return to the Nations Cup after a 39-year wait.

Following their remarkable achievement, a report by Goal quotes Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli as saying: “I have been touched by this team for reaching the Afcon finals and have decided to reward each one of them with pieces of land to build houses,” Goal quoted the head of state.

Tanzania are among three nations from East Africa to have qualified for this summer’s Nations Cup. The others include Uganda and Burundi.

The 2019 Afcon is scheduled for June 21 to July 19.
